About our School

DEL RIO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Established in 1992

At Del Rio Elementary School our mission is to educate and attend to the whole child. Our entire school community is dedicated to the belief that all students can learn. We are convinced this begins by seeing that all children have access to a rich and full curriculum. We successfully communicate the high standards we have for all students. Our staff is committed to providing a caring, child-centered learning environment encompassing the best of the past and a vision of the future. We utilize our local community and the knowledge of our entire school staff in developing informed, creative critical-thinkers capable of tackling the challenges of the 21st century. "Every Student Matters, Every Moment Counts!" is our school motto.  We are a K-6 school located at 600 Hidalgo Drive in the Rosedale Union School District. Del Rio serves approximately 540 students in Northwest Bakersfield. All primary grades, TK-3, have had their class size reduced to 24 or fewer students.  All Intermediate grades (4-6) maintain class size of 30 students or less.   We are fortunate to have six Kern County Superintendent of Schools' Special Education classes on campus. Del Rio students are using the Accelerated Reader Program software. Schools utilizing the program report tremendous gains in student reading achievement. We appreciate the fantastic parent involvement in our classrooms, our Parent Teacher Club, special programs, and for participation on our School Site Council. Parent participation and attendance in "Parent Nights", "Open House," parent conferences, and special class activities are all evidence of the high levels of parent support and value they place into the education of their children.
